Motorcycle rocking chair made of wood. Plywood rocking motorcycle

Everyone knows the classic wooden rocking horse for children, this toy has always been very popular with the kids. We will keep up with the times and make a wooden rocking scooter. It will be a great gift for your kid on his birthday or New Year. Making such a toy is available even to a novice master, because. the scooter has a rather simple silhouette compared to a horse, for the manufacture of which it would not be bad to have the skills of a woodcarver.

After the parts are cut out, they must be finished with a file and sanded with sandpaper or sandpaper so that there are no burrs. In order for the swing to be uniform, the rocking chair runners are processed together - they are combined with each other, clamped in a vise and leveled with a grinder.
Some of the steps in the manufacture of a children's rocking scooter are shown in the following photographs.

All parts of the toy are connected with glue and fixed with screws.
To hide the structure of the tree, the rocking scooter is painted in several layers. Before painting each layer, make sure that the previous layer of paint is dry. The product will look upscale if it is polished after painting.

As a headlight, a Chinese round battery-powered LED lamp attached with Velcro was used. The child really likes it when, when swinging on a scooter, the flashlight gives a glare on the furniture.

Children's rocking chairs in the form of horses are no longer relevant. What kind of horses can there be if the 21st century is in the yard? Therefore, rocking chairs must be modern! For example, in the form of a motorcycle.

The challenges of the new century must be answered according to the times. So it's high time to throw off all sorts of anachronisms like rocking horses from the ship of modernity. When was the last time you saw a horse on a city street? These are realities from the past. On the streets of modern cities, only horsepower in the engines of cars and motorcycles remained from horses.

Therefore, it is high time to replace rocking horses with something more modern. For example, on rocking motorcycles. That's exactly what one fan of the iconic Italian Vespa scooter did. He created a rocking motorcycle for his grandson in the form of his favorite two-wheeled vehicle.

Of course, he didn't take the Vespa itself and put it on a curved wooden platform. He made a copy of the scooter about half the size of the original. Just the right size for my young grandson. This amateur designer used fiberglass, metal and leather for the seat as material.

So, for the manufacture of the "iron horse" you need 20 mm plywood. At least 1 sheet (standard size 1500x1500 mm). In addition, about 1.5 meters of a wooden cylinder (a handle from a shovel is perfect). Assembly diagram drawings are attached.

To work, you will need the following tool:

  • jigsaw
  • grinder (better belt)
  • drill driver

Details, except for wheels and wheel racks, are cut with a jigsaw, preferably with a small indent, we grind the ends to the marking lines. The corners of the parts are smoothed, you can, of course, grind it, but I think that it is very difficult to do it evenly. The wheels are milled using the simplest, as in the photo.

The most difficult thing is the manufacture of the main supporting frame, I think that everything except the wheels is cut with a jigsaw, while the wheels - unfinished circles are already milled. The gas tank and headlight, as you can see in the photo, are not cut out of plywood, but from a board of a suitable size.

The surface of the parts is polished, varnished (two colors - see the assembly diagram). Finished (that is, dried) parts are connected with glue and / or self-tapping screws (in the photo - without them).

As a child, I dreamed of my own rocking horse, but alas, not all of our childhood dreams come true ... After the birth of my son, I said to myself: "Since I didn’t have it, my son will!" The time came when my son grew up, and I started looking in children's stores. Despite the abundance of "horses", be it horses, deer and even giraffes, I did not find a suitable model in my opinion.

Once on the Internet I came across a rocking chair made in the form of a motorcycle and decided to try it myself. Next, I will describe the manufacturing process in more detail.

According to pre-made templates, I sawed out the details of the future motorcycle with a jigsaw.

After that I glued all the details

In the end this is what happened...

In order to make it more interesting for the child, I decided to build a musical filling from a broken toy inside the headlight, and for clarity I inserted bright LEDs

After further processing and painting, a very nice rocking chair with lighting and music turned out, and in order not to open the headlights to replace the batteries every time, I inserted the batteries and connected the connector to the charger. The son has not been down with his beloved "friend" for a year ...
