Automatic input of glyphs into ingress. Learn to draw glyphs

Aka "hacking". To play, you need to constantly replenish your arsenal. To do this you need to “hack” portals. Don’t worry about “hacking” - you don’t have to break into locked rooms or “red-eye” in front of the monitor - just click on the “Hack” button. This is the simplest, yet most important part of the game.

Find the portal

Did you find it? Great, now long tap on it. Swipe your finger on the "Hack" button and you will get several things - they will be shown below.

And, if you scroll to “Hack no key”, then you will also receive some resources, but without the key to the portal (a very useful feature for saving time on the subsequent recycling of hundreds of unnecessary keys after short-term “business trips”). What are the keys for?

Portal levels

Portals come in different levels - from 1st to 8th. The level of the portal is considered as the arithmetic mean rounded down from the levels of all resonators on it, including missing ones, which are considered 0. The level of the portal is directly related to what level of equipment you will receive from it.

For example, a third level portal will drop mostly (but not exclusively) level three items. However, if your level is 4, then even the portals of the eighth level will be for with rare exceptions“give” you things of the fifth or third levels, not the fourth.

Hacking with glyphs

If you hold down the "Hack" button for a while, a "memorize and repeat" mini-game will appear. The more shown figures - glyphs - you repeat, the greater the bonus to the usual number of things you will receive.

But, for example, you have a key to portal A. And you glyph it and glyph it and collect the keys for an important matter. In order not to throw the key to the ground or hide it in a capsule every time, you can do the following:

To do this, you need to draw the "More" glyph, and, voila, the key will fall.
- Or the “Less” glyph, which will help you perform a hack without dropping the key.

You will have about 2 seconds to enter the "More"/"Less" glyph before the base glyphs go.

Also, not so long ago, a medal for glyphs was introduced - Translator - you hack a portal with glyphs, draw the entire combination without errors and you are awarded a certain number of points. Points depend on the portal level. If you make a mistake in one glyph, you understand, you won’t get a single point. And SPEED BONUS does not play any role for the medal.

Portal LevelGlyphsPoints Earned
0 1 1
1 1 1
2 2 2
3 3 4
4 3 4
5 3 4
6 4 8
7 4 8
8 5 15

As you can see from the table, for a level 8+ player it is most profitable to glyph portals of the eighth level - 15 points per score for the correct combination. =)

And there are also such cool glyphs that can slow down the display speed or, conversely, increase it: COMPLEX - increase, SIMPLE - slow down. They are entered after More/Less.

With the L8 portal glyph hack using COMPLEX, you save almost 7 seconds of time, and when using SIMPLE - almost 6 seconds longer!

  • NOURISH and REPAIR
  • PURSUE and WANT
  • DATA and MESSAGE
  • PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE

Rotated 180° (which may also count as reflections, depending on the shape):

  • ATTACK and DEFEND
  • BEFORE and AFTER
  • BREATHE/LIVE and DIE
  • CALL and RESPONSE
  • CAPTURE and LIBERATE
  • CIVILIZATION and NATURE
  • COURAGE and FEAR
  • DESTINATION and DISTANCE (opposites in the sense of “near” and “far”)
  • DETERIORATE and IMPROVE
  • I /ME and OTHER /YOU
  • IMPURE and PURE
  • INTERRUPT and SUSTAIN
  • LESS and MORE
  • NEW and OLD
  • THEM and US

Sometimes a related glyph is created by making small modifications to an existing glyph:

  • ABSENT and PRESENT
  • CONFLICT and COURAGE (and, via rotation, FEAR)
  • CONTEMPLATE and ENLIGHTENED
  • FOLLOW and LEAD
  • I/ME and US
  • HELP and TOGETHER
  • LIE and TRUTH
  • OTHER/YOU and THEM
  • STRONG and WEAK

Some glyphs are related in other ways:

  • The shape of the HUMAN glyph is a combination of the shapes of the BODY , MIND , and SOUL glyphs.
  • There are several compound glyphs, created by combining two glyphs into one: CLEAR ALL , OPEN ALL , and SUSTAIN ALL .
  • PRESENCE includes the glyph for PRESENT (as well as ACCEPT and XM , though the relationship to these glyphs is less clear).

Some concepts have more than one glyph associated with them:

  • There are three glyphs associated with the concepts of CREATIVITY/IDEA/MIND/THOUGHT:
    • CREATIVITY: Has only this meaning
    • IDEA : Also represents CREATIVITY, MIND, and THOUGHT
    • MIND: Also represents IDEA and THOUGHT.
  • There are two glyphs that share the meaning of SELF with other terms:
    • I/ME
    • INDIVIDUAL
  • There are two glyphs that share the meaning of STRUGGLE with other terms:
    • AVOID
    • RESISTANCE /RESIST

There are some glyphs which, despite having related meanings, do not appear visually related:

  • BALANCE/PERFECTION and IMPERFECT
  • BEGIN and END
  • COMPLEX and SIMPLE
  • CONFLICT and HARMONY
  • DANGER, SAFETY and SAVE
  • DIFFICULT and EASY
  • HARM and REPAIR
  • HAVE and WANT
  • QUESTION and ANSWER

There are some glyphs that appear visually related but do not have obvious related meanings beyond speculation. Without further insight into Shaper culture and the etymology of glyphs, we can’t know whether these glyphs are truly related or their similar appearance is coincidental:

  • ABANDON and RESTRAINT are reflections of each other.
  • ABSENT , INSIDE , and NO /NOT all share the same glyph.
  • ADAPT and SAVE are reflections of each other, and both look like incomplete versions of WORTH .
  • EQUAL and PRESENT /NOW are reflections of one another.
  • IMPERFECT looks like an incomplete version of LIE (which is itself an incomplete version of TRUTH ).

Glyph sequences are not random: they form meaningful “sentences,” such as:

LIBERATE | PORTAL | LIBERATE | HUMAN | MIND

Some of the sequences seem to have a pro-Shaper message, others are anti-Shaper, and still others seem to be neutral or ambiguous. Once you have learned the Shaper language enough to read the actual meaning of the sequences, you will find that glyph hacking becomes easier. After all, it’s easier to remember a short sentence then a jumble of seemingly unrelated symbols.

While glyph hacking will increase the average yield of your hacks, it is more time-consuming, which can reduce your hack rate. If you are running a circuit of portals with little time in between hacks, you may want to do regular hacks instead of glyph hacks. If you're a glyph hacking pro, you can partly compensate for this by using the COMPLEX command.

If you care more about glyph hack points than gear and AP (because you’re working towards the Translator medal), remember that you get the same number of points regardless of the amount of time left on the clock. Don’t worry so much about speed and just focus on getting them all correct. Use the “Redo” button if needed.

Formulas For Math Geeks

B hack= 10 × G correct + P × B perfect

B speed = P× ⌊100 × T left ÷ T limit

AP base= 50 × G correct

AP bonus= 20 × P× 2 0.5× G correct

AP = AP base + AP bonus + B speed

  • P is 1 if all glyphs were drawn correctly and 0 otherwise ( P = ⌊G correct ÷G total⌋),
  • B hack is the hacking bonus,
  • G correct is the number of glyphs you got correct,
  • G total is the total number of glyphs in the sequence,
  • B perfect is the perfect hack bonus corresponding to the number of glyphs in the sequence, as shown in the table above,
  • B speed is the speed bonus,
  • T left is the time remaining on the clock,
  • T limit is the total time you were given to draw the sequence, as shown in the table above,
  • AP base is the amount of AP earned for correctly-drawn glyphs,
  • AP bonus is bonus AP earned for drawing all glyphs correctly,
  • AP is the total amount of AP earned from the glyph hack. (Note: Does not include AP from hacking enemy portals.)

Example: Suppose you perform a perfect glyph hack on a L7 portal with 5 seconds left. Your hacking bonus would be 10% × 4 + 1 × 80% = 120% (4 correct glyphs and perfect hack bonus). Your speed bonus would be 1 × ⌊100 × 5 ÷ 16⌋ = 31% (5 out of 16 seconds left). Finally, you would earn 8 glyph hacking points and 50 × 4 + 20 × 1 × 2 0.5 × 4 + 31 = 231 AP.

History

  • Glyph hacking was released on February 18, 2014.
  • On 4 March 2015, bonus AP began to be awarded for perfect glyph hacks.
  • The command channel, supporting only the MORE and LESS commands, was released on December 22, 2015.
  • On 24 March 2016, the SIMPLE and COMPLEX commands were added to the command channel.
  • The release of Ingress Prime comes with an interface change that makes glyph hacking easier to discover in the UI. There are some mild cosmetic changes, and glyph display is slightly sped up.
  • On 31 March 2019, as part of Niantic’s April Fools joke, the TOAST glyph was added, along with a number of glyph sequences featuring the word TOAST or TOASTY. The joke acknowledged a bug in Ingress Prime in which a test message saying “This is a toast notification” appeared in the scanner. (A toast notification is a temporary message panel that pops up and then disappears on its own after a short delay.)

Moreover, the level in the game decides a lot. A newcomer cannot do anything against strong players of another faction. Surely, you will want to make a meaningful contribution to the game as soon as possible, and not just wander aimlessly around the portals.

The faster you level up in Ingress, the more interesting the game will be for you. Adopt several pumping methods and start having fun!

Basics about levels in Ingress

Ingress has 16 levels. From 1 to 8, it becomes possible to use new items, such as resonators and weapons. From 8 to 16, only the maximum mana reserve and the recharging range of portals change (even at level 2, the range exceeds the size of the regions in Ukraine).

That is, the most important thing is to level up to level 8. You can use any XMP boosters, and even repaint any portal with a virus.

The amount of experience you need to earn for each level grows non-linearly. With each level you have to gain more and more experience. For example, to move from level 2 to 3 you need 7 times more AP than to move from 1 to 2.

To move to the next levels after 8, you still need to earn a certain number of medals (shown in the picture above). They are given for various achievements: recharging resonators, traveling the path, destroying portals, etc. As the game progresses, they gradually appear.

Why do you give AP (experience) in Ingress?

Almost any action in Ingress grants experience. The maximum increase in AP is achieved by actively destroying fields and links and building your own in their place.

Below is the amount of AP per action in Ingress:

By hacking with glyphs, you earn much more experience. Experience is given for each glyph guessed (50 AP), for guessing all glyphs, and for speed.

The table shows how much AP is given for the glyph hack:

Leveling up from 1 to 4 levels

Players entry levels(up to the 5th) are practically unable to actively participate in destruction. To destroy a level 5 portal (maximum such a portal can be created by one player of level 8 and above), you will have to spend almost your entire arsenal. And if the portal is protected by shields, then the situation gets even worse.

There are only two good ways initial pumping.

First way: follow other players of your faction and link portals after them. You can also capture gray portals and use them in linking. Friends high level can help you level up by breaking the enemy’s network and leaving the creation of fields for you.

Second way: hack high-level portals with glyphs, visit farms. To level up from level 1 to 5, you only need to hack an enemy level 8 portal 300 times and guess the glyphs.

Using the second method, you will get to level 5 with a huge number of items and will be able to be very active. On the other hand, high-level portals are painful when hacked, which is very difficult for beginners with a small supply of mana.

It would be optimal to combine two methods. If you play every day, then it’s possible to reach level 5 in 1-2 weeks.

Destruction of the central portals of the enemy network

After reaching level 5, you can go hunting for enemy portals. It makes sense to destroy the central points from which many links and fields extend. Such portals, of course, often have several protective mods installed, and they can also be recharged, so it’s worth considering the rationality of the attack. It's better to come with friends and at unexpected times. In any case, calculate the ratio of weapons spent to experience gained.

It is not necessary to concentrate on super cool portals with 10 links of them. Sometimes it is more effective to break 5 portals simpler.

Although, according to our observations (and we play together), after reaching level 7, you can easily destroy even the coolest enemy portals.

Creating a dense network of your portals

The most experience can be gained by creating control zones. In place of the destroyed enemy portals, you need to build as dense a grid as possible. For pumping, it is worth making more triangles, and not trying to cover huge areas.

This option is especially good if you are playing for the winning side.

To extract maximum benefit, try creating fields within fields. The picture shows how this is done. Links can only be thrown from the corners of the outer triangle inward, but not vice versa. Calculate the most effective way coverage is possible using a special service.

Creating a star

If you play alone, it is not so easy to build dense grids, because you will need to collect a lot of portal keys. As you know, keys are dropped with only a 50% probability, and the portal can be hacked once every 5 minutes. Therefore, for a single-player game, creating a “star” is optimal - a portal into which many links come from other portals around.

To create a “star” you need to prepare first, collect more keys from the central portal. It would be nice to have a portal near your home (“homework”) or near the place where you hang out.

In such a place, you need to hack the portal and at the same time request an additional key (the portal simply gives the key only once).

Requesting an additional key goes like this:

  1. click glyph hack
  2. enter the special glyph "MORE" before the glyphs arrive

When the required number of keys have been collected, you can walk around and throw links from the current portal to the central one, as well as to the previous one. The end result should be something similar to a star or flower.

This option is not the most successful from a strategic point of view: the enemy can destroy the center of the “star” and gain a lot of experience at once. But for leveling up Ingress alone, this is acceptable.

Active farming with glyphs

It is also easy to get a lot of experience for simple farming in Ingress. For example, hacking a level 8 enemy portal can yield approximately 500 AP. Therefore, never neglect this opportunity.

To farm, you need to have a portal or several in a convenient place (accessible from home or work).

The level is very important for such a portal, so ask your friends to help you build your homework. For greater safety of the portal, you can repaint it with a virus in the color of the enemy, and ask your comrades not to touch it.

It’s worth installing a multi-hack and strong shields in your homework so that you have time to recharge and deploy, if anything happens.

If for the sake of leveling up and effective farming you are willing to sacrifice the fun of the game, then you can create entire farms and walk from portal to portal, monotonously hacking them. A radiator can be useful in such portals. The picture shows an example of a farm in Chernivtsi, on Prospekt.

These are all the ways to upgrade to Ingress that we have found and are using. If you know others, tell us in the comments - it will be interesting to read.

INTRODUCTION

Exactly two years ago, along with the real and game virtual worlds, there is one of the fine lines in which both of these worlds are quite harmoniously mixed. Such facets are called “augmented” or “extended” reality, meaning that There is something much more to visible things. Now you have installed the application - and the smartphone or tablet in your hand has turned into a special device - a “scanner”. When you look through it at graffiti on a wall or at a city sculpture, you will see an energy called “exomatter” oozing from it. Perhaps next to you you will see (not through the device, but with your own eyes) a person looking at his smartphone, then at you. “Blue or green?”, he thinks. Or maybe you will find yourself in a huge field of one of two colors, covering the entire city... Yes, baby, this is Ingress.

To put it briefly and beautifully, Ingress is a semi-real MMORPG in the world of smartphones and tablets. It appeared as a fusion of city quests, children's team competitions like “Cossack robbers”, world conspiracy theories, fantastic dystopias and gambling. It took root, becoming an entire culture, dividing the inhabitants of the globe into two factions, but at the same time uniting them for one goal - to endlessly play and fight. We can safely and not without exaggeration say that Ingress is more than a game. This is a real lifestyle.

PLOT

Imagine that when the CERN experiment was launched at the Large Hadron Collider, something unexpected happened - some kind of interdimensional energy was released, which was immediately dubbed Exotic Matter, in our opinion - exomatter or “ExEm”. This energy began to accumulate, as it turned out, in places of manifestation of art or science, i.e. evidence of human development: monuments, museums, libraries, even post offices. Such XM clusters came to be called “ portals“. And not just like that - it turned out that the portals allow representatives of an alien race - the Shapers - to pass into our world. They say that it was the Shapers who influenced the development of humanity: they controlled the minds of such outstanding people, like Mendeleev or Mozart (not in vain, many ideas came to them “in a dream”), they moved progress further and further, pursuing only one goal known to them. Now the Shapers have decided that the world is ready to stand on new level. But people have their own opinions on this matter, or rather even two.

Enlightened ( Enlightened) , the “Green” faction - believe that the Shapers should continue to advance the progress of humanity, so they help them. There are many arguments that people are always afraid of new things, but they bring good things. Didn't aliens help the most ancient people build pyramids or the first observatories? Or maybe the Shapers created people in the first place?..
Resistance ( Resistance) , the “Blue” faction - are convinced that the Shapers will turn people into developed, but without individual consciousness, beings. They believe that the goal of the aliens is to create an army of people with a collective intelligence, like ants. Agents of the Resistance are confident that humanity itself will cope with its progress and art.

GAMEPLAY

In fact, the gameplay of both factions is no different.

It all looks something like this:

1. You need to meet certain temporary checkpoints to earn more points than the enemy faction.

2. To earn points, you need to create fields by connecting three portals of the same color (of your chosen faction).

3. To connect portals, you need to capture them correctly.

Basic gameplay actions:
Hacking the portal ( hack, “hack”) - carried out in relation to the portal of any faction, and even neutral ones, i.e. - not captured. The only purpose of the hack is to farm items. To “hack” a portal, you need to be within the scanner range marked with a yellow circle. When you hack someone else's portal, you also get +100 XP for it. The higher the level of the portal, the higher the level and items that can be obtained from it, but they will not drop higher than your level + one more from above.
Portals have cooldown– this is usually 5 minutes, if special items are not installed on it (you can read about such items, MODs, later). During this time, the portal “cools down” and hacking is impossible.
Important lifehack! If you don’t just tap, but hold down the button hack, a mini-game for memorizing glyphs will open. Depending on the level of the portals, you will be asked to repeat from one to five glyphs, behind which mysterious messages may be hidden - probably from the Shapers themselves. Correctly repeated glyphs give you bonus items!

Installation of resonators, deployment of the portal (deploy) - for the portal to function at full capacity, 8 resonators must be installed on it. Resonators are just such gizmos, without which a portal cannot be connected to other portals. Naturally, you can only deploy a neutral portal (this is called capture portal), or add resonators to your own, in which there are less than 8 of them. One person can put all 8 resonators of the 1st level on the portal, 2nd, 3rd and 4th – four pieces each, 5th and 6th 2 each, but the coolest “cuts” are 7 and 8; one player can only place one piece each. This is done because Ingress is a team game. The first and last resonators give the most XP. If you went to level up with a friend, and you don’t have many resonators in your inventory, then ask him to let you put the first and last one (unless he himself doesn’t need to level up - be tolerant! :))
Important lifehack!- It is advisable to deploy the portal at the farthest possible distance. The further you are from the portal, the further away your resonators will be installed, and the more difficult it will be for the enemy to blow them up (more on this later). When deploying the portal, stand so that it is at the very edge of your yellow circle.
You can also replace weak resonators with stronger ones, i.e. higher level.
If you want more nerdiness, then .

Link, connection of portals (link) - the main goal of the game is not to capture portals, but to connect them into filled triangles( control field ). To connect two portals, you need to stand within reach of one portal and have key from the one you want to connect it with. Portal keys drop out when they are hacked with approximately 80% probability. You will see the link button in the portal profile, in the center of the resonator diagram. Naturally, it becomes active only when all 8 of them are installed. The game may ask you to link all reachable portals to which you have keys, but link wisely. The link should not cross other links, so you should not connect two portals across the entire city if you do not plan to complete the construction of the field. Otherwise, you will ruin the game for others (this is also called “shit linking”). Usually, if you have a key to a portal, say, “Fountain of the Sun,” then hacking this fountain a second time will not cause the key to fall out. But if you want to link two portals located near you to the “Fountain”, and thereby create a field, that is another life hack: standing near the fountain, throw away the key (Drop button in the key window), hack the portal again, and when you get the second key, pick up the one you threw away. Voila! Now you can link 2 portals to the “Fountain of the Sun” without running back and forth! You are amazing!

Recharging resonators (rechaj, recharge) - needed to maintain the vital activity of resonators, and therefore portals. Resonators consume exactly 25% of their charge per day; in addition, their charge is destroyed by enemy attacks. You can charge either a pack of resonators or each one individually - naturally, you spend XM from your “health” scale on this. It even gives a little experience, which is so necessary for beginners. To recharge a portal, you need to stand within its radius, but you can also recharge portals from a distance if you have the keys to them. True, the further the target is from you, the greater the XM consumption will be.
And finally - the fun part.

Attack of enemy portals! Of course, I don’t recommend hitting portals at the first levels - unless in a company with strong players, that is, finishing off enemy resonators to gain experience. Everything is simple here - the higher your level, the higher the level of bombs that you can use (Xmp Burster, in common parlance “boosters”). Just go to your inventory, select “booster” and press Fire. And now very important life hack: On the screen where you see the portals, and at the bottom scrolling through the boosters in your inventory, hold down the Fire button. You will see that exomatter is seething around you, narrowing and expanding the ring. So, when it has narrowed as much as possible, release the button. This makes it possible to increase the booster's attack power up to +20%.

You can view all current world portals, links and fields at this link. This function is not available on mobile devices, therefore, on long-distance raids, it’s good to take a compact ultrabook with you in your bag. you will learn the rest along the way - about achievements, about events, and so on. The main thing in Ingress is to play in a team, which you can find in COMM or by calling friends. As a team, you can create real masterpieces from fields, walk around the city at night and travel in droves to neighboring cities to exchange keys. There are also many romantic stories about Ingress players - especially interesting cases love relationship between representatives of different factions :)

Some terminology and jargon of Russian-speaking Ingress:
Farm- a large group of portals in one place. It’s called that because people go there to hack and collect items. The most valuable, naturally, are the “eighth farms” - they have the most powerful portals.
Res– resonator.
Boost, booster - Xmp Burster. “Vadik, are you going on a raid? No? Well, at least throw some boosts out the window.”
Uporin- the mood to play Ingress, for example, until 3:00 am or to break loose and go to another city to link.
Homemade- portals that can be reached from home.
Up- raise the level of the portal by delivering high resonators to it. “Eights, please let me know if you’re passing by.”
flip- repaint the portal using a virus (read about this another time!)
Govnolink- an ill-conceived linking that spoils the subsequent tactical game. #Ilinklike a fool
Zelenka- a disparaging name for enlights as resists.
Blue- a disparaging name for resists as enlights.
Since Ingress was released on Apple devices a few months ago, a lot of new blood has appeared in the game. And today is even better to start playing - until the 15th there is an event in honor of the game’s second anniversary, during which you are given 2 times more experience for each action.

In the next article I will tell you how Kiev Enlight lives, how we met Lina Molotova in Moscow, and in general about how the girls lived to live like this.
Whatever faction you choose, we will be glad to see you among the ranks of Niantic Project agents! Let the game begin!

and long live Enlightment!

How to level up in Ingress

We have already concluded in our introductory article about Ingress that the level in the game decides a lot.

1. Click the glyph hack

This is a screenshot from the Ingress map, where the farm is located in Chernivtsi.
